1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Euregio.Net AG, Zur Holzwarche 27, 4761 Wirtzfeld (Büllingen), Belgium (enterprise number 0455.638.890), who can be reached at privatim@euregio.net.
2. When you visit the website
Our hosting provider Combell (Belgium) processes technically necessary server log data (IP address, time, URL requested, user agent). These logs are deleted after 30 days at most and are not linked to the notification list.
When you open privatim.be without a language in the address, the
server reads your browser’s language setting to redirect you to the matching
language version. This information is not stored.
The fonts and scripts of this website are hosted on our own server. The one exception is the security check on pages with a form (section 4).
3. Notification list
When you sign up for notifications, we store:
- your email address
- the time of your sign-up and of your confirmation (proof of the double opt-in)
- the IP address from which you signed up (proof and protection against abuse)
- the page on which you signed up (the home page or a particular product) and the language of that page, so that we can send you relevant messages in your language
We use your email address solely to keep you informed about Privatim and the products in the Privatim range. We do not pass it on to third parties and do not sell it. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
To protect against automated mass sign-ups, we also briefly log how often sign-ups are attempted from an IP address, and we keep a block list of addresses that have unsubscribed or were signed up improperly. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating the list free of abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Security check (Cloudflare Turnstile)
On pages with a sign-up or unsubscribe form, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) that tells whether a person or a program is submitting the form, without puzzles and without cookies. To do so, technical data about your browser and your IP address are transmitted to Cloudflare. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the forms against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
5. How long we keep the data
We keep your sign-up until you unsubscribe or until we close the notification list. We regularly delete unconfirmed sign-ups. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to privatim@euregio.net.
6. Who processes your data
The list is stored on servers of our hosting provider Combell (Belgium) within the European Union. We use SMTP2GO to send emails (servers located in the EU). For the security check, see section 4.
7. When you write to us
When you write to us by email, for example to become a tester, we use your details to answer your enquiry and to organise the testing phase with you. The legal basis is taking steps, at your request, towards working together (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We delete your messages once they are no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention obligation applies.
If you apply to become a tester using the form, we store your details (name, email address, organisation, sector, country, Mac and macOS version, your message), the language of the page, the IP address and the time of the application and its confirmation. We use them only to decide on your participation in the testing phase (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Declined applications are deleted after three months at the latest.
If you become a tester, we set up access to the download page for you. For this we store your email address (which is also your user name), the name used to greet you, your language and a hash of your password (never the password itself), as well as which build you downloaded and when, with the IP address. We use this to provide you with test builds and to tell you about new ones (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and delete it when the testing phase ends for you.
8. Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics script and no advertising technology.
9. The Privatim app
Privatim processes your text and documents only on your Mac. It sends neither content, nor the mapping between original values and placeholders, nor usage data to Euregio.Net AG or anyone else. Privatim connects to the internet only when you download language models (from GitHub and Hugging Face, or a mirror you have set) or test the chatbots’ reachability in the system check. The chatbot buttons open the service in your browser; what you paste there is up to you. Processing by the AI service you use is governed by that service’s own terms.
10. Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), as well as the right to object to processing (Art. 21). To exercise them, simply write to privatim@euregio.net.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit): dataprotectionauthority.be.
11. Language versions
This privacy policy is available in German, French, Dutch and English. The German version is binding. Belgian law applies.
