Privatim runs on your Mac. You select a text and press ⌘⌥E — and Privatim replaces names, addresses, IBANs and national register numbers with placeholders or realistic replacement names before the text goes into your AI tool. Hand the AI’s reply back to Privatim, and the real details are back in place.
How it works
Privatim works in any application in which you can select text: your email client, Word, your browser, practice management software.
Select the text and press ⌘⌥E. Or paste the text straight into the review window.
The review window shows every detected detail highlighted in colour, with a legend. You can undo maskings or add your own.
Copy it to the clipboard or open Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Grok directly. Via the clipboard, any AI tool works, Copilot included.
Copy the AI’s reply and restore it from the menu bar menu or with a keyboard shortcut: the real names and details are back in place.
What Privatim detects
Detection runs entirely on your Mac, in three layers: patterns with check digits, a language model and a local privacy model. In German, French, Dutch and English.
Each detail is replaced with a unique, typed placeholder. Clearly recognisable, for the AI too.

Names, places and companies are replaced with realistic fictitious values that AI tools handle better. Dates, amounts and identifiers remain placeholders.

The AI gets the text it needs to give a good answer — not your clients’ names and numbers.
Testing phase
Privatim is a finished Mac app in its testing phase. We are now looking for testers from the field who work on a Mac and will tell us honestly what’s missing:
in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Euregio.
Requirements: a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 13 or later. Privatim is signed and notarised by Apple.

Detection on a server in your office or at your hosting provider: less powerful Macs get the full detection, and other systems can anonymise through the same place.

Euregio.Net AG is a Belgian public limited company that has been working in IT, hosting and consulting since 1995. We are based in Büllingen in the German-speaking Community of Belgium and look after small and medium-sized businesses in Belgium, Luxembourg and the wider Euregio.
The idea for Privatim didn’t start at a desk. It came out of our MSVO training sessions “KI konkret” (AI in practice), where one question came up again and again: how can I use ChatGPT, Copilot or Claude in my day-to-day work when my texts contain names, addresses, IBANs or national register numbers? Most answers on the market either send that data to US cloud providers, or take too much effort for small offices.
Privatim grew out of a simple observation: data protection and usefulness shouldn’t be at odds. Local processing detects what is sensitive; visible control decides what leaves the building; and support comes from the same region as you.
